Has the ADA made a difference?

The Americans with Disabilities Act turns twenty this year, and on its anniversary comes a new survey of disabled Americans to find the difference it has made in their lives.  Looking at the impact of the law, the research conducted through online surveys, found that two thirds of responders felt that the law had been the most significant influence on their lives in the past two decades.  Primarily this has come in the form of public improvements and accessibility for disabled persons.  One responder stated, “There was never a point in my life where…you wouldn’t know I had a disability.  But thanks to the ADA, the people around me – including my family, teachers, and employers – knew that I shouldn’t be excluded from a normal life.”
